Poison Sumac Rash

Poison Sumac - Poison Sumac (Toxicodendron vernix or Rhus vernix) is a woody shrub growing to 3 m tall. All parts of the plant contain a toxic resin called urushiol that causes skin and mucous membrane irritation to humans.

Poison ivy - Poison ivy (Toxicodendron radicans or Rhus toxicodendron), in the family Anacardiaceae, is a woody vine that is well-known for its ability to produce urushiol, a skin irritant which for most people will cause an agonizing, itching rash.

Urushiol-induced contact dermatitis - Urushiol-induced contact dermatitis (also Toxicodendron dermatitis and Rhus dermatitis) is the medical name given to allergic rashes produced by urushiol oil contained in various plants. This includes the genus Toxicodendron (including poison-ivy, poison-oak, and poison sumac), as well as other plants in the family Anacardiaceae (mango, Rengas tree, Burmese lacquer tree, India marking nut tree, and the shell of the cashew nut), and even unrelated plants such as Ginkgo biloba.

Notch-leaved phacelia - The Notch-leaved phacelia (Phacelia crenulata), is a common spring wildflower found throughout the Mojave Desert of the southwestern United States. The plant, part of the Waterleaf Family, grows to 16 inches in height, and can produce a skin rash similar to that produced by poison ivy.
