Muscarinic acetylcholine receptor - Muscarinic receptors are those membrane-bound acetylcholine receptors that are more sensitive to muscarine than to nicotine. Those for which the contrary is true are known as nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.

Sodium ion channel - Sodium channels are integral membrane proteins that exist in a cell's plasma membrane and regulate the flow of sodium (Na+) ions into it. A number of receptors function as Na+-permeable ion channels, including Acetylcholine receptors, NMDA receptors, AMPA receptors, and kainate receptors.

Butyrylcholine - Butyrylcholine is an acetylcholine-like molecule, with activation of some of the same receptors as acetylcholine. It is hydrolysed by acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase (also known as pseudocholinesterase), with butyrylcholinesterase being more efficient than acetylcholinesterase.
